Avalon String
Ensemble is now accepting bookings
for Weddings for this year and the next.
Whether as a duo
or trio, Avalon String Ensemble offers a unique blend of musical texture
to add a very special touch to your wedding day. The combination of Classical
guitar with cello and/or violin is subtle enough for the most intimate wedding
and dynamic enough for the grandest wedding. Avalon String Ensemble has
the affordability of a duo or trio with the resonance and texture of a string
quartet. The full sound is achieved by the richness of the cello, the brilliance
of the violin, and the guitarist's ability to play three parts simultaneously.

There are four
sections of your wedding ceremony for which to consider music. They are
as follows:
The Prelude
This is music that is played from the time your guests arrive at the wedding
ceremony until the moment the bride arrives. Unless you have particular
music in mind, we will usually play a selection of appropriate music from
our repertoire while your guests
assemble.
The Processional
This is the piece of music played for the bride's arrival and the bridal
party's procession down the aisle. Usually one piece is chosen, which
lasts the duration of the bridal party's journey to the groom at the altar.
Some suggestions for pieces of music to be played during the processional
are:
J.S.Bach: March (Notebook for Anna Magdalena)
(MIDI)
Handel: Aylesford Gavotte (MIDI)
Pachelbel: Canon in D (MIDI)
The Signing of the Register
Often the signing of the register can be a lengthy process. During this
time we can play any suitable music of your choice, whether traditional
or modern. Suggestions of popular choices of traditional music are:
J.S. Bach: Air on a G String (MIDI)
Schubert: Ave Maria (MIDI)
Vivaldi: Largo (Lute Concerto in D) (MIDI)
Recessional Music
As the bride and groom leave as husband and wife, you will want music
that is joyful and celebratory. Traditional recessional music includes:
J.S.Bach: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (MIDI)
Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 (Ode to Joy) (MIDI)
Purcell: Trumpet Tune (MIDI)
Music for your Reception
Avalon String Ensemble is also available to play at the post-wedding reception.
Subtle background music is a fine finishing touch during the dinner following
the wedding ceremony.
